Ben Davey, Director  & Senior Designer

Ben began his golf course design career when he joined Melbourne-based Cashmore Golf Design (CGD) in 1996.  He gained significant experience overseas and was the Senior Designer responsible for many of that company’s projects in Australia, Vietnam and China.  Ben left CGD in 2008 to form Davey Shearer Golf Design.  He has worked on the design and construction of more than 40 existing and new golf course projects in Australia, China, Vietnam and Korea.

Ben was raised in Melbourne, where he learnt to play golf in the famous ‘Sandbelt’ region, home to many world class golf courses, including Royal Melbourne Golf Club, Kingston Heath Golf Club and Victoria Golf Club.  The design of these courses made a lasting impression on Ben and he has clear views about what makes a great golf course.

Ben has a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies (1993), and Graduate diplomas in Urban Planning (1998) and Landscape Architecture (2002), all from the University of Melbourne.  He is a full member of the Society of Australian Golf Course Architects.

Ben lives on the Mornington Peninsula, where he plays regularly on the dozens of local renowned golf courses.  He is also a 25 year member of Royal Melbourne Golf Club, where he plays to a single figure handicap.  Ben is married and has two young children.
