Construction of a new 9-hole ‘Pitch and Putt’ course has commenced at the Neangar Park Golf Club in the Victorian regional city of Bendigo. The course, which is being built on spare land adjacent to the Club’s main water storage dam, will feature 9 short par 3’s of between 60 and 90 metres. The greens and their surrounds will be lots of fun to play for kids and beginner golfers but the holes are being designed to also attract better golfers who want to sharpen their pitching and short game skills. The actual putting greens will average only 200m2, but with their surrounds, there will be lots of different ways to play each hole – both in the air or along the ground. The detailed design is being prepared by Ben Davey of Contour Golf Design Group.
In addition to the Pitch and Putt, Neangar Park Golf Club is also building a new commercial driving range, the first of its kind in Bendigo. The driving range and the first five holes of the Pitch and Putt will open in early 2020.
