Contour Golf Design Group has been appointed Golf Course Architects for Tasmania Golf Club. Director, Ben Davey will be providing golf design services to ensure the long-term viability of the golf course, in response to the Tasmanian Government’s proposed upgrades to the Tasman Highway which borders the Club’s southern boundary. Contour Golf is working closely with specialist engineering and environment consultancy, Pitt and Sherry, to ensure that the final approved road alignment offers a very successful design outcome for Tasmania Golf Club.
Tasmania Golf Club’s 18-hole course is located on beautiful Barilla Bay, 15 minutes east of Hobart CBD and near the Hobart Airport. The Al Howard design, which opened in 1971, is the most highly rated course in the Hobart area, alongside Royal Hobart Golf Club, which is only five kilometres away. Tasmania Golf Club has hosted many prestigious events, including the Australian Amateur Championships and the Tasmanian Open.
Initially, we will be considering redesign options for Holes 1, 2, 16 and 17 as well as the driving range, which are all impacted by the most recent design concept for the widened highway.
