Benxi site visit (April 12-15th)
On 12th April Ben Davey visited their new project site near the city of Benxi in north-east China’s Liaoning Province. The site, which is less than 100 kilometres from the North Korean border and about 150 kilometres from Davey Shearer’s completed project at Fushun, is located in a beautiful mountain valley – from where Ben was able to cheer home Adam Scott with poor internet reception! Although the surrounding topography is extremely steep, the site itself is relatively flat and is located adjacent to a river – somewhat reminiscent of the Banff Springs golf course site in Canada.
Planning for other developments including roads, a hotel and villas is underway by local consultants and the government. Once this is finalised Davey Shearer will commence detailed design for the proposed 18 hole golf course.
